THE DREAM TEAM : IMSTA is in the process of establishing several new International Branches

International Branches

Back in August 2007, we introduced you to the IMSTA Japan leadership. Now, we are happy to inform you that IMSTA Japan has translated the IMSTA web site and brochure to Japanese. We would like to congratulate this dedicated team.

We are also in the process of establishing more IMSTA branches throughout the world. Our goal is to translate the site and print material to as many languages as possible, and to have representatives in each country. We have had numerous requests by IMSTA members and non-members who wanted to establish international branches. IMSTA is currently considering its options in choosing this dream team. If you are interested in championing this great cause in your country, please contact us for more information.

Copy Protection: The good, the bad, and the ugly

Copy Protection

Software companies are all making millions!  It's too expensive!  If I can't afford to buy it anyways, they're not losing a sale!  I shouldn't have to pay for software that has a bug in it!  I only want to try it to see if I like it! Ultimately, all the excuses boil down to two simple truths:  “Stealing software is easy to do” and “I probably won't get caught”. How then, do we as an industry mobilize against that type of ignorance? ... Read on...

IMSTAR OF THE MONTH : Contact IMSTA and find out how you can get your star and become an IMSTAR

IMSTAR

An IMSTAR is a company or an individual that helps IMSTA with its agenda. Usually, IMSTARs do not have a direct interest in the music software industry, or the software industry in general. However, a member who goes beyond its membership requirements may also receive a star and become an IMSTAR. The IMSTAR of the month of November is the Audio Engineering Society. Once again, AES has shown its support for IMSTA and that deserves a star. Thank you AES.

A QUICK NOTE TO OUR MEMBERS : Adding more membership benefits

To show appreciation to its members, IMSTA is currently researching ways of adding more benefits to its membership. We had the opportunity to meet face to face with some of our members who dropped by the IMSTA booth at the AES Convention. IMSTA would like to get ideas from all its members. Please contact us with your comments and suggestions.

MEMBERSHIPS: Join Up, Pay Up and Do Your Part

uncle

IMSTA is the best and only advocacy program the music software industry currently has for fighting piracy. We are fighting piracy on levels that go beyond the obvious. We are trying to change behavior. In order to do this we need a few simple things done by tens of thousands of people - yes, you are one of them. To start, we need you to join IMSTA. To do this fill out our Membership Application Form. Next we do need you to pay your membership dues for 2007. This is a small but vital contribution that you will make to our campaign. We use your money to pay for the things that we can't get volunteers to do. If you haven't paid yet, please do it now. Finally, we need you to begin the process of implementing the program in the Industry Member's Guide. For starter, put the IMSTA Badge on your web site. This is as easy as 1, 2, 3. One thing for sure is that we cannot succeed without you.

See you next month.
